Review of BrookR, October 27, 2011Brook is fantastic. I’m a fairly new Rails developer with one major app under my belt. I asked Brook to review my existing code to identify areas for improvement, since up until now I’ve been coding in a bubble without external feedback. His feedback was exactly what I was looking for — thorough, specific, and encouraging. I was fearing the worst, but he took the time to point out my strengths and he gave specific, actionable feedback on the areas where I can do better. I look forward to checking in with Brook again in the future to help keep me on the right Rails path!

Pros: Helpful, Encouraging, Patient

Review of Brook R, September 14, 2011I’d gotten stuck on a project, and was despairing of finding a way through the multitude of problems in my app. The inconsistent offers of help I’d gotten from a few friends were not working out, and I was getting close to throwing in the towel. With much patience and confidence, Brook was able to walk me through each item one by one and help me to solve them. Point: he went the extra mile to make sure I understood what was happening, and encouraged me to take the reigns in solving the issues. He has a habit of talking out loud when he’s exploring a problem that’s super helpful in following the process of troubleshooting. Since I’m not experienced enough to troubleshoot properly, this was an incredibly valuable part of the learning curve for me. I highly recommend Brook!

Pros: Helpful, Engaging, Patient, Good communicator

Review of BrookR, September 06, 2011Brook gave me an excellent kickstart to Rails! After having got stuck for a while just installing everything, he got me up and running with everything in no time, quickly showing me how to start a sample project. I finished the session having actually understood almost everything he showed me, excited and ready to move ahead in learning Rails. Am looking forward to Brook’s help in developing my first app in the weeks to come.

Pros: Helpful, Encouraging, Good communicator

Review of BrookR, September 04, 2011Brooke is a rare combination of expert engineer and patient mentor. He’s equally comfortable going slowly over the basics until you’ve perfected them or diving into something complex and ambitious to help you finish a project. If it weren’t for Brooke I _never_ would have landed the job I currently have.

Pros: Helpful, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Fun, Good communicator
